Dell working on an ultrabook for a January launch?

According to DigiTimes' industry sources, HP and Dell will launch their first ultrabooks sometime after rival system vendors, including Acer, Asus, Toshiba and Lenovo. The former reportedly plans to ramp up ultrabook production at the end of this year via Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta Computer, while the latter company has contracted Wistron to produce a 14-inch machine that will be displayed during CES 2012 in January.

The sources also revealed that Wistron is manufacturing Acer's 13.3-inch Aspire S3, Compal Electronics is working on the 15-inch Aspire S3 as well as Lenovo's IdeaPad U300s, while Pegatron Technology is whipping up Asus' 11.6-inch UX21 and 13-inch UX31. We haven't seen too many strict release dates, but most of those devices are expected imminently -- certainly before next year based on existing information.
Dell working on an ultrabook for a January launch?
Because HP and Dell will lag behind their immediate competition, some folks believe the companies intend to ship their initial offerings with Intel's next-generation 22nm processing architecture, Ivy Bridge. Although that isn't impossible, it seems unlikely. Leaked roadmaps and separate sources have repeatedly suggested that Ivy Bridge will emerge in March or April 2012 instead of Intel's customary January unveiling and launch.

In somewhat related news, VR-Zone reports that some Ivy Bridge ultrabooks will feature extremely high-resolution displays. While most of the upcoming MacBook Air rivals will carry a typical 1366x768 screen, some will cram 2560x1440 pixels into a 13.3-inch panel -- albeit for a premium. Such a pixel density would likely push the ultrabook's price north of Intel's recommended $1,000 mark, and battery life would take a hit too. via

Dell Latitude D630 Business Laptops Review, Specs and Cost

dell latitude d630
Dell Latitude D630 is laptop cool which very admired, the Latitude D630 is also a first-class and road ready business laptop. This laptop comes with 2GB of RAM pre-installed on most models and storage capacity going all the way up to 160GB hard drive on selected models. Dell has thrown in an Intel Core 2 Duo processor ranging from 2GHZ T7300 to 2.4GHz T7700. The Core 2 Duo's are extremely fast. http://elaptops.blogspot.com

Considering that the laptop would primarily be used for business purposes, a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 135M discrete video card is not bad for graphics display. It comes with 128MB of dedicated video memory. Add in the 14.1" wide-screen display which is not only bright but has a matte finish as well and you have a winning platform for office productivity. However, the screen doesn't host any webcam, as featured in most other competitive notebooks, nor does Latitude D630 have built-in microphone. Those in constant need of video conferencing will definitely not welcome this aspect of the machine.

new dell latitude d630
Internet connectivity options, very vital for the mobile businessmen, are also great on this notebook. It boasts of 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity, as well a Wi-Fi catcher functioning even in shut down status. Mobile broadband, WWAN, all are available as an option to integrate into the laptop.

The 9-cell extended battery really turns this model into a power horse, even watching DVD's at full brightness will only drain the battery after 4 hrs 45 minutes. A smaller mouse button size due to the presence of a fingerprint reader is probably of little concern if you are in a place where you can use a normal sized mouse or will be primarily using the comfortable keyboard more than anything else.

Dell Inspiron 6400 15.4 inch Laptop Review

new Dell Inspiron 6400
Dell's one of the well-known laptop maker has announced the launch of its new laptop namely, Dell Inspiron 6400. The Inspiron 6400 makes a good home or small-business system if it stays put most of the time, as it's too heavy for regular travel. With the new Inspiron 6400, all of the crucial elements are accounted for: You get a comfortable keyboard and touchpad, a decent display, and a very solid collection of basic multimedia features and connections. The base unit starts at approximately S$1,799, but Dell offers a vast array of configuration options for everyone from the most basic Web and email user to digital junkies who require midrange gaming and graphics capabilities. That said, if you're looking for a similar set of features but a larger display, check out the Inspiron 9400; if you're looking for something more portable, the Inspiron 640m weighs less and offers a similar experience, just with a nominally smaller display. HP also makes two systems, the Pavilion dv5100 and the Compaq Presario V5100, which offer comparable feature sets and weigh a little less.
Dell Inspiron 6400
Design

The Inspiron 6400's which powered by features 15.4-inch widescreen display can be configured with one of two native resolutions, XGA or the finer SXGA+, and either a glossy TrueLife or standard, nonglossy finish. We prefer the finer resolution, which affords more screen real estate, but if you have bad eyesight, the lower resolution will make text and graphics appear larger, though less detailed. The glossy finish makes the display look brighter but also gives off a distracting glare in sunny or well-lit environments. Our glossy, SXGA+ test unit delivered a solid score of 160cd/m² on our Minolta luminance meter, which tests a display's maximum brightness. The Inspiron 6400's keyboard is adequate, and the touch pad and two mouse buttons are nice and big, though they don't afford a great amount of tactile feedback.
best Dell Inspiron 6400
Features

The Inspiron 6400 provides a standard array of ports and connections that should fulfill the needs of most basic users. The offering is virtually identical to what you'll find on the Pavilion dv4000, except that the Inspiron 6400 lacks a Type II PC Card slot (inconsequential, unless you already have a bunch of PC Cards) and has a media card reader that supports one additional format (SmartMedia). One of the very best things about the Inspiron 6400 is the set of seven handy multimedia buttons that sit smack in the middle of its front edge, which makes it easy to control music and movies, even when the lid is shut no other vendor offers.

Review Dell D810 Laptop Battery

Review Dell D810 Laptop Battery
Dell d810 laptop is known for various good features it has, but also for its excellent battery life. But in time it is normal that a laptops’ battery to wear off, especially if you keep your laptop plugged in while you work on it, it depends also on the type of applications you run and so on. It would be ideal to adjust the brightness of your display to improve the battery life, to unplug any external devices you have, perhaps even change the resolution of the screen and most importantly keep the laptop running by it and only when the battery has drained out completely recharge it.

But if you are in need of a Dell d810 laptop battery, then you can find a replacement for it, even if you look in stores, online or at their official store. You just have to make sure that no matter from where you buy the battery; it is original and compatible with your laptop model and number. Such a battery costs around $38, but again it depends where you shop.

Now that we have settled with the Dell’s d810 laptop battery, let’s see the other specifications this system is known for. To start with, we can mention its sturdy design, full range of business ports and connectivity options and the three-year warranty. If you are looking for a desktop replacement and with a fairly good list of specifications, then you can rely on it. The laptop is not as light as you would expect, so try to find a sturdy laptop bag or case for it, because if you decide to carry it just like that, you will surely feel the pressure. What is more, the keyboard lid has been improved and the internal frame is harder and less likely to break. The keyboard is big enough to be comfortable and the layout is intuitive. Because the touch pad has a reasonable distance away from the keyboard, there are few chances you will accidentally hit some arrows when typing. The LEDs you see are for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and whenever you activate them, the lights will go on. There are also some external keys, for adjusting the volume and the mute button, but other than these, the system is not designed to meet intense multimedia use.Review Dell D810 Laptop BatteryYou can configure the laptop depending on your needs and on your budget. You can choose from the processor you want, to the memory on-board. But the configuration options are available on the website only. If you buy the laptop from the store, you can’t change anything it has inside, rather than upgrade the system yourself after the purchase. An example of configuration includes a Pentium M Sonoma processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, the 15.4-inch” display with a native resolution of 1680x1050, 80GB hard drive and ATI Mobility Radeon X600 graphics card. You can also choose among optical drives, if you need a DVD-RW or a simple DVD-ROM.Review Dell D810 Laptop BatteryAmong the features missing, this Dell laptop lacks the FireWire and parallel port. But besides these two, it comes packed with the other essential connections you need for business. There are four USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet, S-Video out, smart-card slot and the Type II PC Card slot. For protection, there is a password-protected chip for your personal information

Dell Precision M6500 / 15.6-inch Laptop Review

Dell Precision M6500 / 15.6-inch Laptop Review
Whether you don’t need the quad-core power of the Dell Precision M6500 mobile workstation (or the competing HP EliteBook 8740w) or just can’t afford it, Dell is offering a far more affordable, if still powerful option in the Precision M4500.

For $1,549, the M4500 comes with an Intel Core i5-520M dual-core processor, 15.6-inch LED-backlit display, and a 1GB Nvidia Quadro FX 880M graphics card, though the other specs for the base configuration are more meager: just 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and not even built-in Wi-Fi. Dell will have no qualms if you want to upgrade the rig, which you can with up to 8GB of RAM, a pair of 500GB hard drives, and a Blu-ray burner (the latter only a $546 extra). You can also choose one of those quad-core processors or even an i7-920XM Extreme Edition for a mere $850 addition to the price tag.

If you’re doing heavy graphics work, you’re more likely to splurge on a Quadro FX 1800M video card for $265 and maybe a 1,920×1,080 display for $129. As for the wireless card that Dell didn’t bother to include on a $1,500 system, you can tack on an extra $15 for a 802.11a/b/g/n connectivity.

Dell Latitude D420 Laptop Reivew

Dell Latitude D420 Laptop Reivew
Dell D420 belongs to Latitude series of notebooks and these systems have always emphasized more on function than the form. But with the D420, the company has put in some decent specs and has made it look attractive as well. This ultraportable notebook is the smallest from this manufacturer to date. The battery will live up to one working day and the Latitude D420 is a good competitior to other systems in this price range like Lenovo 3000 V100. The system weighs 1.36 kgs and is has upgraded Intel Core Dup chip and costs about $2300. I would recommend this for business users and consumers who need portability and power at the same time.

The silver and charcoal case of the Dell Latitude D420 looks really attractive. The dimensions are 295mm, 25mm high and 209.8mm deep. The latter will rise to 241.3mm if you opt for a nine cell battery. Fitting the laptop in laptop cases and shoulder bags is really easy. The chassis is almost all metal and this makes the system look sturdy; it will easily handle rigorous traveling. Dell says that the notebook is RoadReady; which is the proprietary design from the company and it means that the product can handle extremes of temperature and humidity and mild falls and shocks.

Dell D420 has a 12.1 inch WXGA screen with resolution of 1,280×800 pixels. I found it hard to read the text on the small screen with small resolution but Word processing or Web surfing was just fine. The display is really crisp and this makes up to some extent for the loss of impact that you get with a smaller screen. This is certainly not the brightest of notebooks that I have seen to date but still you won’t have any problems reading from it in a office that is well lit.

Dell Latitude D420 is compact and yet manages to put in a full sized keyboard in to its case and there are not hard to hit or oddly placed chiclet buttons. For the touch pad, there are two sets of right and left mouse buttons, above and below the touch pad. This touch pad can be set up for vertical or horizontal scrolling which is great for navigating through documents or Web pages.

The Dell D420 has a basic collection of ports that you’d need in a business machine. This includes mini FireWire port, two USB 2.0 ports on the back, SD card reader, PC Card slot, headphone and mic jacks on the left. For the video, there is just a VGA port. Networking options include modem, Ethernet, 802.11a/g wireless and there is Bluetooth too.
