Samsung : has introduced the Sliding PC 7 Series, a Windows-based 10.1-inch laptop / tablet hybrid with a slide-out keyboard.

The Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series (Gloria R45) is based on the upcoming Intel Atom “Oak Trail” mobile platform and includes the Intel Atom Z670 1.66GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, a battery life of “up to 9 hours”, and Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium operating system with Samsung’s pre-loaded touch-optimized apps.

The Samsung Sliding PC 7’s touchscreen 1366 x 768-pixel screen-display has a 340-nit brightness, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Moreover, the 2.2-pound 0.78 inches Samsung Sliding PC 7 tablet hybrid laptop also sports a front-facing 1.3MP web camera, 802.11b/g/n, WiMax, an optional 3G connectivity, stereo 2×0.8W speakers, HDMI output, USB 2.0 port, a 4-in-1 media card reader, and built-in accelerometer.

According to Samsung, the Sliding PC 7 Series’ Fast Start feature boots the operating system “in as little as 15 seconds, or restores from Hibernate and Sleep modes in a mere 3 seconds”. The Samsung Sliding PC 7 is scheduled to be available in March 2011, with a starting price of $699 MSRP.
